MaGiC for Designers

MaGiC, Made GREEN in China started in 2009 as an open initiative to challenge the traditional mindsets locked into the label, “Made in China”. The first year MaGiC initiative focused on students to raise awareness on what sustainability is and the importance of the designer role. MaGiC began with a green design competition intended to show student designers their role in building a sustainable world, bring attention to environmental challenges and solutions and introduce the concept of waste as a resource. For the first year MaGiC followed the Plastiki expedition as inspiration of new design methods and ways to reduce waste.
